February Product Roundup

📌 Elevated card sorting, new custom templates, and the arrival of Clips

Is it just us, or is time flying? We have another product roundup ready for your and this month there's something for every plan, from an improved card sorting experience for both you and your participants, to the arrival of custom templates to upgrade your creation process and team workflow. Read on!

🃏Drag and drop cards,  pick up the learnings

We’ve had a few things up our sleeve to improve card sorting in Maze. You can now create informative card sorting experiences which are now optimized for your participant with new drag and drop functionality.

This update includes:

  • The ability to customize card sorting instructions that you share with testers. No more templated guidelines, because no two pieces of research are the same.
  • A new and improved participant experience, your users can now sort cards by dragging them into categories. Enabling them to make iterations throughout the card sort by moving cards they’ve already sorted between categories.

🎬Bring human context to usability tasks in Maze

Clips are the easiest way to capture video and screen recordings of usability tasks without running live, moderated research sessions. Get the full rundown on the new feature here or check out our Product Hunt launch!

How it works:

  • Add Clips to Mission Blocks to request video and screen recordings from your participants
  • Participants will grant permission to share audio, video, and screen during their task
  • Collect short video clips of your participant's usability sessions which you can rewatch anytime.
  • View Clips relevant to each of your aggregated paths with screen timestamps.

Save your own mazes as templates for your whole team to use

This month, we introduced Custom Templates to Maze. This new feature allows you to save mazes as Templates that your whole team can use.

We built this for teams who want to scale research best practices and operationalize testing, with Custom Templates you can create consistency across tone of voice, branding, test structure, and more.

How it works:

  • Save existing mazes as templates and find them under Custom Templates which you can start from when creating a new maze
  • Edit templates you’ve saved, such as making copy changes, removing or adding blocks, changing linked prototypes, and so on.
  • Manage the Custom Template space by renaming or deleting templates you’ve saved.

Custom Templates streamlines the creation process for recurring or similar tests, empowering product teams to create mazes even faster with approved tests from their team.
