Wizard of Oz

Wizard of Oz (WoZ) is a moderated UX research method in which users interact with a design that’s controlled by a person. This method enables designers to gather user insights on complex systems without having to invest in actually developing the product (yet!).

For example, when testing a voice assistant, the researcher might listen to the user’s questions and respond in real-time, simulating an intelligent system.
