A confidence interval is the probable range for the true score of an entire population (typically your user or customer base). Confidence intervals help UX researchers calculate the probability that their findings will hold true when applied to a larger dataset. 

Confidence intervals have two parts: 

  • Confidence percentage: The probability findings will hold true
  • Confidence intervals: An upper and lower limit that you can confidently say most users will sit within

You can also have a confidence level, which indicates how accurate your interval is.
