UX Research Glossary / Eye Tracking
Share
Eye tracking is a UX research method that uses specialized cameras or sensors to record where users look and how long they focus on different elements. The data helps generate visual reports like heatmaps (showing areas with the most attention) or gaze plots (tracking the path of the user's eye movements). These insights help UX designers refine layouts and improve usability based on where users naturally focus their attention.
However, it doesn’t reveal why users focus on certain elements, so it’s usually paired with interviews or usability testing for deeper insights.
