Sentiment analysis (SA), also called opinion mining, is a technique to classify user feedback into positive, negative, or neutral categories. 

Typically performed through artificial intelligence and user research tools, sentiment analysis can gauge the emotion behind user feedback and categorize unstructured, qualitative data collected from sources like surveys, reviews, social media, and support tickets. 

Understanding the overall sentiment of your user base helps inform product decisions, determine broad customer opinions, and improve user satisfaction.
