Quality insights start with quality participants. Find the right audience with a marketplace of top-tier panelists or target your own curated community of users with our suite of recruitment tools.

1. Maze Credits

In order to use the Maze Panel Services to conduct Tests and/or Studies, you may need to purchase certain virtual credits from us (“Maze Credits”) in accordance with section 6 (‘Payment and Accounts’) and any other supplementary terms which we may specifically refer you to in these Terms.

Credits are the currency used on Maze to source participants from our panel to use on different projects. Value is calculated per session, and rate varies by study type and recruitment targeting.

General Population B2C B2B
Unmoderated 1 credit (no screener) 3 credits (includes screener) 3 credits (includes screener)
Premium Unmoderated 5 credits 5 credits 9 credits
Interview Studies 25 credits 25 credits 45 credits
  • General Population: represents the overall population without focusing on any specific niche, segment, or demographic. Screeners are not available.
  • B2C(Business-to-Consumer) allows you to recruit individual consumers based on their demographics, interests, behaviors via a combination of filters and screeners.
  • B2B allows you to recruit business professionals based on their job titles, industries, company sizes, or skills via a combination of filters and screeners.

Any unused Maze Credits will expire after 12 months following the date of purchase of the relevant Maze Credits, unless agreed on an order form. Any unused Services will be lost and will not roll over at the end of the relevant subscription period.

2. Unmoderated Recruitment

Screeners and Filters in Unmoderated tests:
Unless you want to recruit a general population audience, you will need to use Filters and Screeners to recruit via Maze.

  • Filters are based on information provided by testers in our panel database. Use them to narrow the participant pool to likely candidates to increase the speed to fulfillment and minimize the chance of the order being canceled.
  • Screeners are designed to target your audience. Use screener questions to further refine the group by screening for behavioral and attitudinal attributes.

Quality Guardrails:
When recruiting panel participants, the quality of test results you receive is our biggest concern. Our goal is to ensure that you get results quickly, and that you can trust the results to make informed decisions confidently based on the data you’ve collected. Maze and its partners have invested in a quality layer to ensure that participant quality meets your standard. This includes, but not exclusively the use of fraud detection algorithms, profile verification, in-study quality checks (speeders, attention checks), and study feedback.

If you’re not happy with the quality of the responses submitted by a panel participant, we encourage you to report it. This helps us maintain the quality of the panel. If you report a participant, the Maze Support team will be notified automatically. They’ll investigate by reviewing their responses and history. Depending on our findings, we may take actions ranging from issuing you a credit refund for the reported participant to blocking them from future panels. Once we’ve made a decision, we’ll contact you with our findings. Please see more details on how to report participants.

Length:
Credits aren’t dependent on the number of blocks in the maze—i.e. the cost is the same if your maze has 5 or 10 blocks, or the type of maze (survey vs. prototype test)
It’s only possible to hire panel testers for mazes with a maximum estimated length of 45 minutes. Learn more about the maze length limits for panel orders.

Responsibilities:

  1. Content: It is your responsibility to test your maze and ensure that the test can be completed by testers. You should verify that any conditional logic is correct and that the test can be completed on all device types you're targeting in your test. Credits are not refundable due to a test error even if test results are unusable due to the error.
  2. Recruitment: Participation is limited to the individual maze for which you ordered testers. You cannot request testers to participate in any tasks outside Maze or link to another maze, survey, or test.
  3. Age: You cannot target participants below the age of 18 years old.
  4. Sensitive material: Please do not include any content which might be offensive, illegal, or harm the safety of or violate the rights of testers.

3. Interview Studies (Moderated)

For interview studies, credits aren’t dependent on interview duration. Instead, they’re priced based on the type of participant. The price is all-inclusive of screener questions and incentives.

Please note that the moderated panel is currently in beta testing. The features and pricing may be subject to change.

Testers must give their consent to take part in the study. You can also require additional consent by using the Legal block.

The consent states:

  • You voluntarily agree to participate
  • You agree to keep this study confidential and will not record or share the information.
  • You also consent to Maze’s use of the information you provided.
  • Your data will be stored securely and processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy
